Pentacid

Pentacid is a biocide solution for activation, indicated for disinfection, cold sterilization, and aseptic maintenance of medical devices such as:

• sharp metal instruments (scissors, scalpels, saws, scissors) and other instruments (tongue depressors, forceps, hemostasis, thermometers)
• rubber or plastic instruments (anesthetic devices, catheters, rubber swabs, probes, suction, and connection tubes, gloves);
• instruments fitted with lenses, particularly those used in endoscopy;
• reusable endoscope cleaning machines after treatment.

Pentacid is a non-corrosive sterilizing disinfectant with high antioxidant power.

Its glutaraldehyde-based formulation is particularly effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, spores, tubercle bacilli, and paratuberculosis.

The biocidal action of glutaraldehyde is maximized by the activating liquid to be added to the product before use

Add an activator to the container to make the product ready for use; the light blue coloration obtained indicates correct activation.

1. Fully immerse the instruments to be decontaminated in the solution, after thorough washing, rinsing, and drying.
2. Disinfection (bactericidal, fungicidal, virucidal, and tuberculocidal action) is achieved by soaking the instruments for at least 10-15 minutes.
3. Remove the instruments from the solution aseptically, rinse them with sterile distilled water, and dry them aseptically.

2. To achieve complete sterilization, leave the instruments immersed for at least 3 hours, to be extended to 10 hours if dilution during use and excessive amounts of organic material not adequately removed from the instruments are feared.

1. Completely immerse the instruments in the solution, extending the immersion time until use and, in any case, no later than the expiry date of the activated solution.
2. Remove the instruments from the solution aseptically, rinse them with sterile distilled water, and dry them aseptically.

Pentacid is a medical device for professional use: it should only be used by trained personnel with appropriate protective equipment.

Do not use it directly on the patient. In case of direct contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor.
